Excellent! Timely for me, too, as a friend just found a source for local organically grown spelt flour (in Pennsylvania). Looking forward to making these with the local pick-your-own blueberries in my freezer. Thank you!

Thanks! I used be off wheat all together, but now I just like to vary my grains so that I eat a little or many different types of grains. Spelt is vary easy to use as a wheat substitute, some other grains are not.

This was a fun recipe to do with my 3.5 year old who really liked mixing the butter in by hand. I did have to watch carefully for frozen berry theft during the entire process.

I didn't have spelt flour and used whole wheat. As such is was a little gritty for the kids' taste, I'd like to try it next time with the spelt or maybe 1/4 white flour. We used frozen wild blueberries from Trader Joes and they were great.

My husband adored the plain scones, the kids didn't like the ones I hadn't sprinkled brown sugar on the top so I will probably do that with all of them next time. I plan to make to these for guests at an upcoming party.
