How I Spent My Summer “Vacation”

It is no accident that there is a fruit fly in this photo, they were my entourage all month

- Hot N’ Spicy “Pickled” Beans – pickled with Bombay Saffire Gin. I’m tickled by the pun (& the rhyme).
- Vanilla & Spice Pears
- Wild Huckleberry Preserves – tart and tasty!
- Fig & Ginger 2009 – not quite as good as 2008 but that was a hard year to follow
- This is a small sampling of the jars I now have stored. I only put out a few of each for the photo.
- Mango Chutney – not from my garden but the lovely mangoes at the market begged for this
- Fig Brandy and Honey Mandarine preserves

These photos are just delicious – I wish I were a canner (and that I had things to can!)…you’re obviously a wonderful cook and your family will be thanking you for months to come!

Actually, I have a bunch of Apple Sauce and Ground Cherry Jam to label and store, and a pot of Chinese Plum Sauce on the stove that I need to finish off. So accomplishment feelings will come. But delicious – yes! Thanks!

It’s hard to not pop them open now – but restraint is in order given what is still in the garden.

Very nice! Some very creative products there… nothing like having a larder you can raid for goodies until the next growing season.
