Outdoors I’ve sown lettuce, radishes and peas in wine barrels. These great clear umbrellas make great pop up greenhouses!

They work wonderfully! It’s warmer and frost fee at night. I only wish I had more.

Are these actual rain umbrellas? They almost look specially made for this purpose! I have the barrels, now I just need to get some clear plastic pop up umbrellas. It looks like they have little zipper compartments on the side so you can reach your arm in, but I’m guessing that’s not what that is?

Jan – Nope, not rain umbrellas – they are made for this purpose and I bought them at a garden sale. The zippered windows are for venting or reaching in (although that doesn’t really work)
